I stayed here several years ago whilst on secondment to Chicago. Given the location and my memories, I thought it would be a good choice for our family group - myself, my Wife and 18yo daughter - on holiday. I was desperately disappointed. Our initially allocated rooms were tired and had an unusual odour. I had to take a trip out, so my Wife contacted Reception to discuss. Apparently without too much fuss we were transferred to different rooms - but ours still had an odour...sweaty armpits! My Wife called me (she didn't want to move again) and asked me to buy a scented candle. Make you're own mind up!
Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of our disappointments. The internet (an additional $13 per room, per day - in this day and age???!!!) was hopeless (more calls to Reception...and the computer dept) the bath filled up whilst showering (more calls to Reception...and the Maintenance Dept - SEVERAL times - I felt like the Foreman!) broken loo roll holder...
Generally, I was very disappointed. 5*...I'm afraid not. Star of the Hilton group...Ditto. Not good enough all round, I'm afraid. The Receptionist told me at check out (where they refunded the Internet charges, by the way) that many rooms had undergone recent refurbishment. We didn't get any of the (we had two rooms) and shouldn't a 5* prestige hotel be in front of the game, rather than dealing with Customers' issues.
My advice: insist on an upgraded room or don't bother.
