“Whoa, we're going to Ibiza.”
So sang 1990s pop group Vengaboys, with the catchy banger reaching number one in the UK chart. It captures much of what Ibiza is about: world-beating nightclubs, stylish beach clubs, and designer shopping. Not for nothing is Ibiza (or Eivissa in Catalan) known as the original party isle.
Holidays to Ibiza are about letting your hair down in popular resorts like Playa d'en Bossa on the island’s east coast, that’s home to super-clubs such as the world-famous open-air venue Ushuaïa and clubbing mecca Es Paradis. Alternatively go west to San Antonio, where there’s music in the air 24/7, or head to the capital, Ibiza Town, to party hard at the 3,500-capacity Pacha – the original superclub and a hang-out for celebrities including Sienna Miller, Kate Moss, Kylie, and Jade Jagger.
Yet while you’d be forgiven for thinking Ibiza is all about high-end glitz, huge yachts, and colossal clubs, you’d be wrong. Scratch beneath the shiny surface and you’ll soon discover that the island of 220 square miles (that’s approximately the size of the Isle of Man) has many faces.
If you’re more into relaxing than raving, the sleepy whitewashed villages that dot Ibiza’s interior are where it’s at. Here you can enjoy rural stays, wildlife trails, and wellness trips – sunset yoga, crystal bowls, and drumming sessions are all on the menu.
Beaches more your bag? Escape the crowds on one of the northwest’s pristine beaches whose white sands and azure waters look like they belong in the Caribbean.
All told, holidays in Ibiza promise Balearic bliss for every crowd. Ibiza holidays are filled with so many fab things to see and do that you might be planning your next trip before your first is even finished.
