Say hello to Marmaris
Known for its beautiful beaches, stunning blue waters and lively nightlife, Marmaris is a great resort for budget holidaymakers looking for some fun in the sun. Nestled in a stunning location between mountains and the sea, Marmaris is popular with cruise ship passengers and yacht owners, who make the Marina a hive of activity in the summer months. If you’re hoping to top up your tan, Marmaris sees temperatures of up to 42°C in July and August, and you’ll have a fantastic choice of beaches to visit, from the famous Blue Lagoon to Calis Beach in Fethiye, and the beautiful bays of Gokova. In the evenings, Barlar Sokagi or 'Bar Street' is where holidaymakers go to party in the resort’s bars and clubs. If you’d rather enjoy a quiet meal at a local restaurant, try the ‘mezes’ – Turkey’s equivalent of tapas – or some familiar British fare in one of Marmaris’ many eateries. You might even be treated to some belly dancing while you dine.

When to go to Marmaris?
Marmaris has mild winters, warm springs and autumns, and very hot summers. With temperatures in the low 40s in July and August, you have a good reason to cool off in the cool, blue waters after sunbathing.
Where to stay in Marmaris?
Most resorts in Marmaris have a pool complex with facilities for everyone, from couples to families with small children. If you’re after the party experience, the Grand Pasa Hotel sits 400 metres from the main strip of bars and restaurants. Alternatively, on the eastern end of the bay, Mets Boutique Hotel is just 300 metres from Bar Street, and offers elegant rooms and terraces. This makes it perfect for young couples and groups of friends. Located just outside the centre are the Green Park Apartments, a great complex with beautiful gardens – perfect for couples and families who want to get away from the hubbub. Another of Marmaris’ holiday hotspots, Armutalan, takes around 30 minutes to walk to and is home to several restaurants and shops. Accommodation such as Marmaris Holiday Villas on Sehit Ahmet Benler Caddesi also offers peaceful seclusion. After central Marmaris, Icmeler is the second most popular resort in the region and has a smaller bay and beach. From here, you catch a boat to Cliftlik, a nearby island where you can go diving. There are also plenty of shops, restaurants and bars around the area. Murat Apart Hotel is just one of Icmeler’s accommodation options, situated right in the heart of Icmeler. Further south, Turunc is perfect for those seeking peace and quiet. The area is popular among people who enjoy sunbathing on the beach, water sports, taking boat trips and hiking. If you love the great outdoors, you’ll be pleased to hear that Marmaris is also a great place for camping and glamping. Seek out one of the campsites between the countryside and Marmaris’ towns and cities for a budget-friendly but idyllic family holiday.
