Frequently Asked Questions

You’ll need to use the United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED) to get your goods in Abu Dhabi. It's simple to change up before you go or grab your cash once you touch down, as the AED is a pretty popular currency in the UK.
The locals are welcoming and will always have a smile for international travellers, and the sunshine and sights are absolutely glorious. If you’re heading there with the tanning in mind though, remember: it’s fine to wear bikinis and other swimwear around the pool or at the beach, but it’s best not to walk around in public like this! We’d recommend packing tops that cover your shoulders, light shirts that cover your whole arms and light linen trousers or shorts that are at least knee-length. If you’re a woman and you’re planning on visiting religious sites, it’s also sensible to bring a scarf to cover your hair.
Summer (June to August) is sizzling – up to 45C – so it’s best avoided unless you’re really used to the heat. Spring and autumn are pretty pleasant, but still pretty warm. Winter is the most popular time to visit, as temperatures rarely dip below the low 20s and there’s little rain.
