Say hello to Carvoeiro
Look onto Carvoeiro from the sea and you’ll be able to see the extent of its traditional Portuguese resort status. Its white villas are placed higgledy piggledy on the shore, which is made up of golden sands and sparkling turquoise waters. Hotels in Carvoeiro range from multistorey complexes to well-equipped apartments and spas that come with picturesque pools. You’ll be able to find something to suit your style in Carvoeiro. Carvoeiro is traditionally a small fishing village, whose biggest disruption to the slow-paced life was in 1554, when a Portuguese flotilla attacked a Turkish corsair, destroying his entire fleet. These days, things are a lot more easygoing: fishermen make their catches, natives and tourists relax on the beach and everyone takes pleasure from the local cuisine. This consists of, of course, fresh fish and seafood, as well as feijoada, a hardy bean stew and roasted suckling pig.
