The 5 star Arrecife Gran Hotel and Spa is situated by El Reducto beach in the heart of Arrecife, the capital of the island of Lanzarote. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite. It was lovely although floor to ceiling windows facing the sun so couldn’t enjoy the views much as sun beeming through the window making rooms really hot. Had to keep the curtains closed. Shower flooded the bathroom - reported and still leaked over the bathroom floor. Not much near to the hotel. Had to get taxis in to porto del carman for some life. No night time entertainment. Restaurant staff said we were only bed and breakfast although we paid for half board. Left me standing in the doorway feeling very embarrassed while Salvador called reception to verify in Spanish - he still wasn’t convinced and I had to show him my booking confirmation from travel republic! They give you the option to pay for drinks as you go or charge to the room, we always paid as we went we only had water or soft drinks and when we left we had been charged to the bank card for soft drinks that we had already paid for at the hotel! Food was ok not much choice and it wasn’t replenished much. There was “crispy” paella under a heat lamp that had got a skin on top and rice had gone hard and it still sat there for ages! I gave up in the end!
