Get to know Kenya
Kenya is a fascinating, tropical country that is home to stunning national parks with a diverse variety of wildlife. Famous for its incredible safari excursions, it’s an ideal holiday destination for families with young children as well as couples. The busy capital of Nairobi is a unique city where you can explore the Nairobi National Park, one of the country's key wildlife refuges. One of the most popular attractions in Kenya is the Giraffe Centre in Langata. Housing the endangered Rothschild giraffes, it is only a few kilometres from Nairobi city centre. The Maasai Mara in the south west of the country is another important national nature reserve, home to a huge range of wild animals.

Frequently Asked Questions
When to go to Kenya?
If you're planning on hiking, enjoying the beach, or searching for Kenya's exotic wildlife, it is best to visit during the drier months between June and October. If you would rather avoid the crowds, you could travel during the rainy season in the spring, although some lodges close during this period. Temperatures can hit 30 °C and higher in the nature reserves, while Nairobi is markedly cooler than other African cities thanks to its high altitude. The coolest months of the year are between May and August.
Where to stay in Kenya?
Many of our hotels are located in Nairobi. A popular neighbourhood in the capital city is the affluent Westlands. It is traditionally Nairobi’s social and entertainment hub. Here you will find plenty of shops to browse at one of the capital’s largest shopping plazas, Sarit Centre. The four-storey building is packed with restaurants and bars, and there are two clubs and a casino. It takes around 40 minutes to drive to the Giraffe Centre in Langata and Nairobi National Park from Westlands. At the latter you can experience wildlife in open grass plains with the city’s skyscrapers as a backdrop.Choose a hotel in Lamu if you want to immerse yourself in the heritage of the many years of trade between Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Take a stroll along one of the island’s deserted beaches for a peaceful, romantic experience perfect for couples. On the east lies the popular Shela Beach. There are 12 kilometres of unspoilt soft sand beach to be explored. Follow the waters edge from Lamu town and it should take around 20 minutes to walk. Or you can hire a water taxi from one of the locals. These are the only means of transport -unless you want to ride a donkey- as there are no roads or cards on Lamu island. By choosing a hotel in Lamu you will be near Lamu Fort. It was built in the early 1800s for the protection of soldiers and was later used as a prison during the British colonial period. The fortress is now home to a museum and library holding one of the most established Swahili poetry collections.
