Say hello to Cannes
150 years on from being a small fishing village, Cannes is known for its elegant hotels, high-end restaurants and all-round glamour. The luxurious resort on the French Riviera is famed for hosting the annual Cannes Film Festival. The prestigious event is held in the second half of May at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès and is invitation only. Cannes is therefore undeniably synonymous with the rich and famous. The city’s exclusivity is reflected by its hotels, with many of the rooms offering spectacular views of the yacht-filled port. However, there are still plenty of more budget friendly accommodation options in Cannes to suit every type of traveller. You can’t visit Cannes without walking along the world-famous La Croisette. The three kilometre stretch of road runs adjacent to the shoreline and is where you’ll find many of the city’s designer shops and finest eateries. Considered as the heart of Cannes, it’s a popular spot for couples who like to take a stroll after enjoying a meal.
