Say hello to Florence
The birthplace of the Renaissance and home to a stunning number of famous museums and landmarks, Florence is one of the major cities in Italy and one of the most historical in the world. Originally founded as a settlement for Roman soldiers in 59 BC, Florence truly flourished as a centre of art, literature and science in the 15th and 16th century. Whether you’re heading to Florence for historical landmarks such as Il Duomo or to pay homage at one of its many art galleries, from the Uffizi Gallery to Galleria dell’Accademia, the capital of Tuscany holds innumerable delights for travellers. Modern day life in Florence is equally full of magic, whether you’re tasting authentic Florentine steak, sampling Tuscan delicacies or sipping fine Italian wine in one of the restaurants close to the Piazza della Signoria.
