With hotel's to suit all budgets, San Francisco is the place to be.
Say hello to San Francisco
Perched on steep hills at the entrance to one of the Pacific Ocean’s largest natural harbours, San Francisco is arguably the most exciting cosmopolitan metropolis in the US. Originally a Spanish mission, the city was at the heart of the 19th century gold rush, and is now home to many of the world’s largest high-tech companies, hence the nickname Silicon Valley. Explore the bustling waterfront area of Fisherman’s Wharf, where kids can visit Pier 39 or watch sea lions sunbathing. Or, if it’s views you’re after, stroll across the Golden Gate Bridge or take a cable car up one of the city’s many hills. There are regular boat trips to Alcatraz Island or Sausalito, and for wine enthusiasts the Napa Valley is one of the best wine regions in the world. Meanwhile, for nature-lovers there’s Muir Woods and Point Reyes National seashore, all just a short drive up the coast.

Very good hotel. Friendly staff. Free transport to centre, free wine 5-7pm and nice breakfast. Unfortunately lot’s of homeless people around. Forget to walk in the area I would not advise even during the day.
September and October are generally the most pleasant months to visit San Francisco, with warm weather and clear blue skies over the Bay. Be aware that the summer months of June, July and August can be foggy, with highs of around 18°C. Winter, on the other hand, can be warm but wet.
Where to stay in San Francisco?
One option is staying at a hotel in Noe Valley, San Francisco’s family oriented, quaint village. The residential area lies in the heart of San Francisco and has a real community feel. Expect to see restaurant patios filled with joyful diners and a range of boutiques. Check out Two Birds and Curator, two popular – yet pricey – boutiques.Noe Valley is also home to a year-round farmers’ market that takes place 8am-1pm on Saturdays. Here you can sample a range of cuisine whilst supporting local businesses at the same time – for instance, Snyders Honey, which has been producing raw honey from its hives just south of San Francisco since 1964.Fisherman’s Wharf is the main tourist area in San Francisco, so expect busy streets and big crowds. Hotels near Fisherman’s Wharf are therefore great if you want to be close to all the action and are pressed for time. Families can explore The San Francisco Dungeon and Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, and foodies can sample the city’s famous clam chowder. In Fisherman’s Wharf you can also buy ferry tickets to the notorious Alcatraz Prison. This price covers your entry fee and you can discover its fascinating history though a guided tour.Choose a hotel in Union Square if you want to explore San Francisco’s shopping district and utilize the city’s best transportation links. Once you’ve finished why not enjoy authentic European cuisine in Belden Place, a nearby alley known as San Francisco’s French Quarter. Or, take a ride in one of San Francisco’s classic cable cars.
