The hotel location was fantastic. It was so near everything we needed e.g. shops, restaurants, Waverly bus and train station so i have not faults on location. The front of the hotel and lobby is beautifully presented however the walk to the rooms is almost like you are entering another lower grade hotel as you leave the reception area. The carpets are worn. There was no direct access to room 46 via lift so we had to carry our bags down a flight of stairs (although help with the bags was offered we declined thinking it wouldnt be an issue), some sections which had no carpet on the stairs, just cementn and we got lost. Pics of the stairs can be seem from some of the 'traveller pictures' on Tripadvisor. I had requested a room close to the lift as i am pregnant and didnt want to be walking far however as detailed above this request was ignored. As i was feeling good over my stay, I didnt address this issue with staff. The room itself was nice and clean and the staff were friendly. We ate in the hotel bar, The Tempus, on our third night and ordered from the restaurant menu. The food was very good although the disco music seemed out of place for the place we were in.

Overall i would stay at The George again because of the brilliant location.

Top Tip: The Dome restuarant which is across the road from The George hotel is a must see - perhaps a drink is sufficent as i felt the menu was overpriced for the quality.

The Hard Rock Cafe, again across the road, was buzzing and had a great atmostphere and good value for money. No need to order a starter if getting a main!

Urban Angel does a great 'free range' breakfast. It is located on Hanover St which is the next street down from Georges street, about a 5min walk. Delicious loose leaf tea also.

Rooms were incredible small , when we asked for an upgrade we were told by staff that all rooms were the same. Bathroom was so small thatthe door hit the toilet. The finish in the hallways and in the rooms of a bad standard, I. E. The skirting boards windows sills also draft from the windows in the room as they are quite old. We asked for a room with a view was never mentioned by staff at reception when checking in and we were given a room at the very back of the hotel which certainly didn't have a view but also the window was frosted and so small that even if there was a view we wouldn't have been able to enjoy it. When we arrived to check in staff had problems finding the booking. The major advantage to this hotel is it's location. We asked staff at reception for a number of a restaurant we wanted to make a reservation for , we got the number from reception phoned and made our booking with the restaurant however when we arrived at the restaurant they was no reservation made for us , as staff at reception had given us the wrong number for the restaurant . Very disapointing for a four star hotel

Top Tip: Jamies Italian restaurant assembly rooms.
