Zante has a reputation for being a party destination, but it’s much more than that. The Greek island in the Ionian Sea has some amazing family friendly resorts and one of the most picturesque beaches in Europe. From horseback rides to helicopter rides, we have some great suggestions for how to make the most of your time in Zante.

SHIPWRECK BEACH
Navagio Beach is one of the most photographed beaches in Zante. The pristine white sand hidden inside “Smuggler’s Cove” is the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by. You can only get to Shipwreck Beach by boat but there are tours which pick you up from most of the major resorts in Zante and take you to Porto Vromi. From there, it’s a 30 minute journey by boat to the bay, which is an adventure in itself. Alternatively, book a helicopter trip so you and the family can experience this beautiful spot from all angles.
ZAKYNTHOS TOWN
Zakynthos Town has a simple charm and is a mix of 18th century architecture, Venetian walls and modern arcades. Although it’s small, there are plenty of things to do and see, including Daphni Nesting Beach, which is a lovely place to go with the family as it’s a turtle conservation area. There are lots of nests around so make sure to bring a snorkel and mask!
TURTLE ISLAND
More turtles! Gerakas Beach – or Marathonissi – is a tiny island just off the south coast of Zante that’s known as Turtle Island. You can book day trips to Turtle Island from Laganas or Kalamaki with informative guides who will teach you everything you want to know and show you the best locations to see the turtles.
KALAMAKI
Kalamaki is a great place to stay with the family. Despite being close to the livelier Laganas, Kalamaki remains a relaxed, family friendly destination with a small waterpark with plenty of rides, as well as some great tavernas which have ice creams for the kids and cold beers for the adults. If you do have kids that are all grown up, they can make the most of the nightlife just down the road in Laganas while you enjoy the peace and quiet of Kalamaki without being too far away.
TSILIVI
Another great resort for all ages, Tsilivi has lots of lovely family run tavernas, restaurants and beach bars. There is a long blue-flag beach, lots of fun watersports and a town centre with shops to pick up bits and bobs like souvenirs or fun games for the beach.
