Start your morning with a famous Las Vegas buffet breakfast. The Wynn Hotel is a very popular choice for its array of delicious dishes. Visit the patisserie, whose warm pastries, cakes and confections are made daily by the hotel’s pastry chefs.
Just 25 km from Las Vegas is the beautiful Red Rock Canyon State Park. Here you will see stunning red sandstone formations and beautiful vistas. Stop to admire the views and to take photos along the drive, have a picnic in nice weather, and just enjoy being in the peace and quiet of the lovely park.
In the evening, wander ‘the Strip’ aka Las Vegas Boulevard, and admire the many eclectic facades and exteriors of the various resorts. Some highlights you will see are the giant Sphinx at the Luxor, the castle turrets of the Excalibur, the New York City skyline and the Statue of Liberty at New York New York, the Eiffel Tower at the Paris and the Grand Canal and gondolas at the Venetian. The fountains at the Bellagio put on a show that combines the dance of water with music and light. Depending on the time of day, the shows runs every 15-30 minutes and lasts only a few minutes but should definitely not be missed.
An early start but well worth the effort! Take the Grand Canyon West Rim 5 in 1 Tour. Leaving at 7 a.m. from all Las Vegas strip and downtown hotels, you’ll be escorted on an amazing adventure exploring the most beautiful natural locations at the rim of the Grand Canyon. Sights include the incredible 900-year-old Joshua Tree Forest, Eagle Point, Guano Point and the Hualapai Ranch & Western Town, where you can see Native American Dancing and Dwellings. There is also a stop at the Hoover Dam for some great photo opportunities before returning to your hotel around 5.30 p.m.
No trip to Vegas is complete without catching a show, so in the evening book your tickets to see one of the seven Cirque du Soleil shows currently running. O, at the Bellagio, is full of grand spectacles and drama. The show is set on an aquatic stage, and performers do their acts in the water, on it and above it. Alternatively, head to one of the other productions, Mystère at Treasure Island, Zumanity at New York-New York Hotel & Casino, KÀ at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, The Beatles LOVE at The Mirage Hotel & Casino and Michael Jackson ONE at Mandalay Bay.
Start the day with a spa experience. Like everything else in Vegas, the options are endless, and you will have a difficult time deciding which Spa to choose. Qua Baths and Spa at Caesar’s Palace Hotel, inspired by Ancient Rome, offers an array of luxury treatments, opulent Roman Baths, 51 treatment rooms and an Artic Ice Room.
In the afternoon head to Downtown Las Vegas and Fremont Street. Here you’ll find The Neon Museum, an outdoor museum dedicated to saving and preserving vintage neon signs. It hosts guided tours through the Neon Boneyard, an incredible collection of retired neon signs, many of them from gone-but-not-forgotten downtown casinos. Visit the Golden Gate Hotel & Casino and see how it all began. Opened in 1906, this still vibrant casino houses little known artefacts on display, including gaming ledgers from the early 1900s, vintage chip racks and more curiosities from the early day of Sin City. In Fremont Street after 6 p.m. there’s free live music, and an hourly free light show to enjoy.
The dining options in Las Vegas are vast, everything from comfort food to fine dining is at your fingertips. Michelin-starred restaurants, Tokyo-style sushi, Burger Bars and Steakhouses, from budget priced to extremely expensive.
