We booked 4 nights in this hotel - big mistake. We arrived after 20 hours of travelling from the UK to be met by a very grumpy receptionist, 11:30pm and told we could not stay there despite producing a reservation voucher and proving we had paid. There was some dispute between the hotel and the booking agent and so we were told we would have to sleep somewhere else. We tried to resolve the matter for 2 hours as we had paid a lot of money for this hotel. The receptionist would not help, would not let us use the phone and would not speak to anybody on our behalf. We spent £130 on our phone bill to try and resolve the problem. In the end we had to find somewhere else to sleep in an unknown city at 1:30am with our bags which obviously cost money also. When we returned the next day to continue trying to sort the problem, we were met by an equally grumpy receptionist who also did not help. We managed to resolve the problem ourselves but lost about £300 in extra accommodation costs, phone bill and lost nights as the hotel would not give us back the money from the first night. Once in the room, we were told there was no battery for the safe so couldn’t use it. The bed was ok but not very comfy. The shower curtain didn’t touch the floor so the bathroom was a constant swamp. The air conditioning unit was so loud it sounded like a plane taking off so couldn’t use whilst we were in the room. There were no windows in the room so in order for day light we had to leave the door open. Would never stay here or in any government hotel again - only book Casas.

Excellent location in the old part of this full on city.Rooms spacious and clean with good beds and fully functioning air con. Staff variable in level of friendliness but not a problem and seems to be same across Havana. Breakfast OK but coffee bad and tablecloths dirty.
