My choice of Gayton was based on the fact that I had an early flight from Birmingham Int the following morning, and it was convenient. To this end it was very good. However, I was a late arrival (9.30pm) and had been unable to find any tel no to advise them of this fact. It was very dark, most houses appeared to be un-numbered, and there was no indication that I had reached the correct place apart from the name Gayton on the wall when I eventually found the correct driveway. Having rung the bell several times, I tried the door and walked straight in, a light was on in a back room and seemingly a television or radio. A gentleman answered my call, but appeared to have no knowledge of my pending arrival! I showed my booking confirmation and the acknowledgment I had of advance payment. Accompanied by his partner, he hastily welcomed me, made coffee and proceeded to make the bed, whereupon I had a very comfortable night. John and Kim were delightful hosts, the house perfect, but the experience was somewhat un-nerving for a lone elderly traveller in a strange place!
