First apperences were quite good. Nice size room and bathroom. Upon checking in I said that I would like to order some food and could I eat it in my room? I was told that the kitchen didn't open till 7.00pm and I could order then. This was at 6.00pm, I told them I had been travelling all day. No. I went and found a local co-op and and asked about local take aways. So helpful. I asked when breakfast is served and I was told that 8.30 - 9.30am. The hotel itself could be such a fine building with a great location. Alas it has been very neglected. Shabby and felt like it needed a good scrub and a lick of paint. The bedroom floor had what felt like hard board placed over a large hole under the carpet, very springy? The ceiling had a very large water mark and looked like it had a bad flood recently. It needed a really good clean. Dirt under the glass on the table. Very light with three windows that were frosted and grubby but only the top venting window would open and I feared in a fire I wouldn't get out. Felt enclosed as no window to open wide and it was very hot. A fan was provided. Had windows open during the night but it was extremely noisey, a fan or generator below kept me awake most of the night. I couldn't contact reception and no advice how to, in the room. I had to get dressed and go and ask for some iced water. This was brought promptly but with no glass. So off they went to fetch a glass! Clean glass, grubby jug. I said that I couldn't phone down and they just said OH! Breakfast - Offered fruit, no fruit! Breakfast cereals all sweet and sugar loaded, no good for diabetics. Cooked - poached eggs and local bacon was really delicious, hash brown not cooked just heated and beans overheated mush. Cup was dirty and asked for another one. While eating breakfast the gardener/handyman walked through the resturant to the kitchen while coughing and clearing mucus from his throat. YUK!
