The botanical gardens are amazing. The pool area is great for hanging out and relaxing, but sadly not heated. Peregrine Castle is a wonderful place for kids to play. The hotel is easy to find and the staff super friendly. Breakfast in the Boma is a thing of beauty.

We spent our first night in South Africa at The Misty Hills Hotel as part of our road trip from Johannesburg, past the Drakensburg mountains down to Durban and then all the way back up to Johannesburg again. Our initial thoughts were wow! We were so glad that we had booked the hotel again for the last three nights of our stay in SA. On the first night we treated ourselves to dinner at Carnivores. My partner highly recommends this for any meat lover. He was in meat heaven as men bearing skewers of meat cut off pieces of Kudu, Gemsbok, Crocodile etc onto his plate until he lowered the flag on the table to indicate that he could eat no more. The customer service at the restaurant and at the hotel was superb. On our second stay we were able to enjoy the facilities at the hotel. The pool area is just lovely and we had lunch at the poolside on one of the afternoons. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at the hotel and we were treated like royalty. Our deluxe room was stunning, and the attention to detail on the site with all the water features and sculptures added to the ambience. A friend came to visit us at the hotel and she had a young one who made use of the Peregrine castle which is an imaginative play area for kids. We had such an amazing stay, we would definately stay there again.
