Lovely positioned Hotel. Not too far from the town of Kalkan; walkable 20min or taxi from 15 to 20 Lira, or a boat (but that only till 18.30), I think that was 6 Lira per person. Pity the last boat so early. The hotel itself not far from the sunbathing terraces/platform and the sea. I was overwhelmed when we arrived and entered the room. However my feelings about it were changing to worse every day of the stay. Although there were two a la carte restaurants, one was closed and the second, overlooking the sea/bay which could be lovely), with not very exiting food and very slow service; we had a lunch ones there; we waited for a small portion of fish and mash for over an hour with only one more table occupied We went for coffee and cake, the place wasn't busy and they run out of ice-cream. So for the rest of our stay we were going to the town. Piano bar closed, terrace bar closed. And that was only the second week of September with 35 degrees hit (the manager said that was because of the end of season). The hotel itself lovely, roman style, beautiful views over the Kalkan bay and gardens but even though we had a room on the third floor it was very noisy as the Agora bar, the only one opened, is just below the main building/hotel, was kept open till early hours and people sitting outside, quite laud, specially as everything there is paved with stone. We also had a group of noisy Chinese (short stay, 2 nights) having an early breakfasts (before 7am),(the breakfast area with lovely view is again just in front, below the front windows of the hotel), so no much sleep for us. A waiter dressing the tables for breakfast every morning was making noise putting cups over the sources at around 5am/6am,(not good for the light sleepers); waiting staff during the breakfast friendly but not offering more coffee; not good at collecting plates piling up on our table etc. I suppose lack of training. Not enough of orange juice ( and that is not even freshly squeezed). This could be a lovely place but things need to be improve on many things. The Molton Brown soaps, the hotel still shows in the hotel's picture gallery, were put in our bathroom only on the last day (our room was a superior sea view room), and one bottle has been already used. Also shower very small; I am not a big person but got few bruises from banging myself of its walls. Cleanliness OKish but dust under the bed not cleaned for some time. Some guests, who stayed there before, told us all these problems has been there for quite a while now. A pity as the whole resort is beautifully designed (by an architect and designer Mr Turhan Caso) and positioned (build into the hills with its lovely nature) and the Roman style hotel are lovely but that is not enough, and I am not a fussy person! I wish things got improved there as I would like to go back there again.
