Welcome to Galway
Galway is a city in west Ireland that sits right on the coast, just south of Lough Corrib. It is a popular destination for domestic and international tourists. Attractions include Galway’s grand cathedral, the Latin quarter and the famous Spanish Arch that once extended from the medieval city walls and the pastel-coloured houses that line Galway’s harbour. As well as having plenty of charming historical sights, Galway is famous for its lively music scene. From traditional Irish music to gigs at The Crane Bar to the contemporary buskers that pop up on its streets, Galway is a music lover’s paradise. Galway’s nearest airport is in Shannon, around 90km south of the city. However, the city itself is well connected by road and public transport, with regular services taking passengers all across the wide province of Connacht. Hiring a car is wise, though, if you want to venture down to see the Cliffs of Moher.
