Heathrow Airport (LHR)

Located about 15 miles to the west of central London, Heathrow is the UK’s busiest airport. Windsor Castle, residence of Queen Elizabeth II, lies six miles west of Heathrow. It’s one of the most iconic British landmarks, inhabited by reigning monarchs for over a thousand years. In terms of climate, Heathrow is mild most of the year round. July and August are the hottest months, when temperatures can reach into the thirties. Outside of the school holiday months can be a good time to travel if you’re not with a family, as prices will be more affordable. You can get more than pleasant temperatures towards the end of May, June and September – sometimes in the mid-twenties. Wrap up warm if you’re coming at the start of the year – from January to March – as this is the coldest period, although if the sun comes out you’ll certainly feel its heat.
