Excellent hotel, well worthy of its 5 stars. I asked for a specific room (327) which had been recommended to me, overlooking the sea, which, unfortunately wasn't available, but my request had been noticed and an even nicer room was ready for me - (Room 418 if anyone is interested). Fantastic balcony overlooking the sea!
(I don't know about the rest of the rooms, but this particular room didn't have a safety chain, which I would have liked)
All the staff are fantastic and the breakfast restaurant is just beautiful with a staggering array of food.
No complaints on any level
“ Top Tip: Lots of restaurant choices all along the beach - standard fare, stakes, fish, pizza and pasta but all good and reasonably priced. If you are looking for a more upmarket place, try Garabaldi's, which is situated across the street from Villa Cortes Hotel.

The hotel was adequate for our stay but I would not rate it as a 5 star hotel. Rooms were spacious and generally clean.Staff were generally friendly and helpful. Disappointingly though, the shower did not work properly as the temperature fluctuating between hot and cold which was unplesant. The reception on some of the english speaking TV stations were was poor at times. The air conditioning did not seem to work properly as rooms did not seem to cool down sufficently at times.
We did not avail of any of the Spa treatments as they were a bit on the expensive side. The spa itself was a reasonably priced with adequate facilities, but unfortunately shower facilities were not cleaned properly with visable build up in the corners of the tray. The Spa room ceiling was in need of repair with large holes visable, probably as a result of a plumbing leak...
Breakfast were facilities and choice were adequate without being spectacular where staff were helpful and friendly.
Overall we were content with our stay in the hotel but, the above criticisms are mostly based on my expectations of a 5 star hotel, but having said that, proper operation of the facilities and general good hygiene would be something I would expect of the most basic of accomodation.

Top Tip:
The shops were good for all the usual holiday present stuff and was good value if you are willing to haggle which can be a bit of craic (fun) in itself. The resurants were good in general but service could be a bit slow at times in some of them.
and was safe to gert around...
There was a bar called "Magic" I think were there was a very good american soul singer there which I thought was very entertaining night.

“ Generally we found the hotel to be very good and would recommend it. The grounds with pool, sunbeds and beech are excellent. In terms of weak areas we found the shower to be of a lower standard than we would expect for a 5 star hotel. We booked half board and found that, on the Saturday night, the evening meal was provided in the Mexican restaurant, on their special Mexican night. This was an experience we did not enjoy. We would stay again but would consider going B&B, as there are plenty of restaraunts around the hotel.

“ The hotel was very clean and the staff were very attentive and polite. We had a super room and were given the balcony that we requested. We really enjoyed the hotel's private beach. It was relaxing and wasn't packed - probably early on in the season. We ate in one of the hotel's restaurants - Garabaldi's which is over the road from the hotel and it was very good quality and high standard. The TV was very dated but this didn't bother us as we don't watch much TV on holiday. All in all would recommend the hotel.
“ Top Tip: We found a few good restaurants - Garabali's (belongs to the hotel), Mamma Rosa's and a few good restaurants at the Safari Centre - Thai Botanica, Bombay Blue and nearby The Monkey Bar.
