Barcelo Ponent Playa Hotel

“ Just arrived back from staying at this hotel. At the end of the day you get what you pay for, it is a 3 star rating. We booked a sea view and to be fair that is what we got, pay extra for this view, it is worth it. I did try to book a suite but there were none available, so we do not know what they look like. The room we had was on the sixth floor and again to be fair was very clean and adequate. We went half board, and it seems that they are only interested in you when you are all inclusive, we made a request for an early breakfast as we went out early in the morning, they were ok with that until they found out we were only half board, then they denied our request, so no breakfast for us that day. We also made a request on our day of arrival to have a late check out,, but told that was not possible until the day before we leave then they would look at it again, Saturday comes and request denied. Most of the staff need to get some people skills, only one staff member Eva, went out her way to help us. The food is ok, but evening meal is a free for all, yes , I know it is only 3 star, but I have been to far better where they really take care of you. The beach is right outside the hotel , again on the small side but adequate, and clean. This hotel has got great potential but they need to sort out the staff at the front reception, the male staff need training on how to deal with people, far to abrupt with you. Would we go back to this hotel ? NO ! afraid not.

“ Top Tip: Do walk right into Cala D'or, lots of shops , pubs . entertainment there.
Also go the the Marina, nice walk there, and marina is really nice to see.

“ This was a 3 star hotel in a good location .We went in May and it was very busy..Our room was a double sea view with balcony which was small but clean and functional.Our stay was all inclusive and the food was varied and plentifull but not great quality. The all inclusive drinks menu was small and disapointing in quality.The restaurant was large and all meals self service buffet,it got very busy at times and think it would be a stuggle to get a table in high season and no coffee available with evening meal. Entertainment good but can get crowded.Reception staff were freindly and helpfull at all times as were most staff.The swimming pool was freezing and pretty basic good luck if you want a sun bed.we found the hotel and Calor Dor tobe British freindly with British seemingly the most common with alot of German and Dutch.Make sure you do the Stoller Tramway and visit palma both very good.
Overall a good value for money 3 star hotel in great location right on the beach.
