“ On checking in (eary February 2012) I was disappointed to find a letter advising that the pool would be closed for the duration of my stay (8 nights), although guests would be allowed to swim at the nearest Intercontinental - a walk of half a mile. When I complained to Travel Republic that I hadn't been informed of this prior to booking I was impressed by their immediate response in contacting the hotel - and the duty manager then contacted me and, after a discussion, upgraded me to the top floor and a side harbour view room. Hotel staff, from managers to cleaners, are attentive and very customer oriented - the rooms are very clean and replenished regularly; fittings and fixtures are well maintained and overall the impression is of a hotel with high standards. Food is good also but beware hairdresser in basement where prices are high and products and service limited.
“ Top Tip: Close to East TST Mass Transit Railway station, lots of restaurants, other hotels and bars in the vicinity. Close by Victoria Harbour where a walk has been constructed for sightseeing, with access to Avenue of Stars and the Star Ferry terminal to Hong Kong Island.

“ We have stayed at this hotel on four occasions. The hotel is excellent in most repects, however the behaviour of a small minority of guests has spoiled the last two visits we have made. The hotel caters for large tour groups from India. We have been disturbed at night (and during the day) by disgraceful behaviour and noise from these groups (including their unsupervised children). On both occasions we have had to complain to the duty manager. We would probably not use this hotel again for this reason. As I mentioned earlier, the hotel is otherwise excellent.

“ We had a harbour view room well worth the extra payment, the rooftop swimming pool is a great place to relax after sightseeing. The hotel is about a twenty minute walk from the star ferry, and has loads of restuarants close by. The hotel merits its five star rating
