Travel Republic contacted me and informed me of a change of hotel due to unexpected circumstances with provider. Within 20 minutes they found another hotel of a similar or better standard and sent me the voucher by email. The staff with very helpful and apologetic.
Semiramis Hotel in Cairo is five star hotel of a very good standard in all aspects. Reception staff was very helpful, meals are good quality, the place is clean and site and view on the River Nile is magnificent.
The only annoying thing was the excessive security checks every time you go out or come in to the hotel reminding of airport checks airport. Security is run by Tourism Police not he hotel and I spoke to the hotel manager who was very considerate and explained that it is for ensuring safety of hotel clients. I still do not see that the situation in Cairo make it essential for such high level of security.Cairo is a very safe place.
All in all it was a much pleasant experience and a good time in Cairo.
Highly recommended both Travel Republic and Semiramis Hotel.
“ Top Tip: Do not miss Felfella Restaurant in Downtown Cairo. There are a lot of nice restaurants on the West Bank of the River Nile near the hotel in anchored large boats e.g. Nile City, La Pasha, Blue Nile. Further down the River on West Bank some more Restaurants next to Four Seasons Giza Hotel. Do not forget to visit Islamic Cairo, Hussein district and Al-Azhar for a unique oriental experience in Bazaar. There is a lot to see in Cairo.

Nice 5* Star Hotel.
Service overall very good but took a long time when checking out, which I think was due to checking if we used the Mini bar ?
Breakfast Buffet highly recommended and a must.
Overall expect to pay 5* Prices for food.
Ideal location in central Cairo and only walking distance of approx 10-15 minutes to the Egyptian Museum .
“
Top Tip:
KFC/Pizza Hut and Hardes 10 minutes walk.
You might not be aware but to find anything with price tag is unheard in Egypt so it was a relief to discover a shop next door to Hardees for Chocolate,Water,Soft Drinks etc with Egyptian Prices e.g Bounty Bar was LE3.50 (35p) compare to LE10 if you are lucky at other outlets.
Please be patient with the Egyptian culture of hagling for everything as main revenue for Egypt is tourism.

Now is what I call 5 * Every thing you could want. Very much a business orientated hotel that's why I have not said suitable for families though there were some children in the hotel. Again Younger people might find the ambience of the hotel and main restaurants a bit intimidating if they were not used to it.Great out door pool and health centre.
If you are looking for a proper 5* then this is the place to be. The Night and Day buffet restaurant was unsurpassed for both dinner and breakfast. Would definitely stay there again if in Cairo
“ Top Tip: Close to the Cairo Museum and down town if you can face dodging the traffic.
