Our 12 night stay at the Conrad was fantastic. We took our 78 yr old mother with us and she loved it too. The staff were extremely pleasant and the bedroom and bathroom were cleaned from top to bottom every day (overkill really). There was a safe, tv, kettle, mini bar, hairdryer, iron and ironing board (although we never had time to use them) all availble in the room. The air conditioning was great, and the view from the balcony was amazing (streets on one side and the Nile on the other).

The pool was clean and welcoming, very shallow at one end and approx 2 metres at the other. A refreshing change from the heat of Cairo. As throughout the hotel, the waiter service around the pool was top class. Clean towels on sunbeds, umbrellas, and poolside bar served a lovely pot of hot water with Nescafe and jug of hot milk.

There were lots of eating places in the hotel which served fabulous food, so no need to go out. We had lots of friends in Egypt and therefore only ate at friends' houses or in the hotel. As usual, I got spanish tummy (well Egyptian tummy this time) and was stuck in my room for a whole day. The hotel staff must have alerted management to this and the service was even higher, fruit arrived in my room. The staff are so lovely.

There is an ATM bank machine next to the casino on lower ground floor, a shop and a beauty salon/hairdressers, where I had a pedicure. I never went to the gym (not my scene).

Cairo itself is very very interesting and friendly, althoug a culture shock at first. It was Ramadan for part of the holiday, and the hotel was decorated in lanterns which made it look quite christmassy.

We would all recommend the Conrad hotel - 5* hotel with 5* service with a smile at all times.

Top Tip: The hotel is located on the Nile and only about 45 minutes from the pyramids. Taxis are very cheap. Always agree the price beforehand and stick to it (they always try and add extra bits on). We found two very reliable drivers which we have the numbers of should anyone want these. Traffic is noisy and crazy and you can hear it a little bit even from the 16th floor so bring some ear plugs if you go to bed early. We never got to bed until after 1 am (mother too!) as Cairo comes to life after dinner.

We had a great time at this hotel, THe staff were nice and the view of the nile was beautiful! Would defintley recommend this hotel!

Top Tip: Taxis from the hotel are pretty expensive, so its best to get one from else where for the day. Also it's best not to mention your staying at the conrad as taxi drivers charge alot more once they here this name.
