The hotel is surrounded by the tranquil sea, and is situated by the first Mycenaean settlement, Palaiocastro Maa, dated back to 1250 B.C. We were half board. The breakfast menu was fine but the dinner menu was just superb both in variety as well as quality.
The service we received from the staff at the reception and the restaurant was excellent. However the hotel could do with some re furbishment. The air conditioning in the room was not working properly and attempts to fix it were not successful. The pool area was very well kept as were the gym and spa areas
The occupancy rate appeared to be poor and the hotel could do with a more flexible and pragmatic policy on allowing Upgrade of rooms. We had requested an upgrade but the charges quoted for upgrade were most excessive and considering the occupancy rate at the time quite disproportionate.

“ This hotel does not cater for children under the age of 12. For the silver surfers, it is hard to fault - excellent location and facilities, world class fine dining and outstanding service and courtesy. The half board deal is exceptionally good value. It is unusual for a hotel to exceed our expectations, but this one did.
“ Top Tip: O'Solomon's is a good value pub with excellent service if you can put up with Irish music

Hotel is situated in wonderful position which overlooks the bay even if you have what is called a 'non sea view room' The food was excellent with a good choice. We had half board but could eat lunch time should we wish and go elsewhere in evening. Thalassa is part of Leptos group who own Coral Bay Hotel situated next door and on visiting the Hotel which is very much hustle and bustle with a vast array of good quality restaurants it was nice to return to the peace and tranquillity of Thalassa.
Just one point of note a Superior seaview-suite which should include a Butler service if this is booked through the internet it does not it is only included when booking direct with Hotel. This caused a minor problem but the Hotel apologised for the mix up and rectified this to our satisfaction.
